I was just wondering what the ovations fans think about Fender buying out Kaman musical products. Do you think it helped, hurt or stayed the same?

I don't know about all of the above, and I'm not qualified to give an answer on most of those, but I sure have seen a hellova lot more on the promotion and advertising.

Webe, that topic has been batted around pretty good. The quality of O and A guitars made domestically has been amazing for the $. The factory service gets high praise indeed on this forum. So naturally there has been a lot of worry that things will go downhill, simply because Kaman has set such a high standard.

So far, fans are both worried and hopeful. But it is too soon to tell.

Me, personally, I think it will ultimately be a generally positive thing. Some things may disappoint us, like some of the models moving overseas for production. But, Fender is a smart company and I think that overall they will strengthen the market presence of Ovation and Adamas. The factory in Connecticut will now have capacity for other projects with the move of "standard" or mid-market production overseas.

Production quality and value are very high these days, thanks to computers and precise machines. The fit and finish on inexpensive guitars are very impressive compared to even expensive guitars 30 years ago. I don't think we'll see quality go down overall. Innovation will only increase.

I think good things are ahead for Ovation and Adamas fans.

As the Chinese diplomat was heard to comment when asked what he thought about the bi-centennial celebration of Democracy in 1989.

I'd like to know why i'm seeing so many Balladeers (I can guess why these) Elites and Legends selling for 30-40% off the price of just a few months ago. Example: I saw an Elite LX w/contour bowl selling for $799.00 thru Musicians Friend. Ad I've seen a lot more then just this one.

That is well said but ask this, What has Fender screwed up?
As opposed to Gibson that has killed every brand name it has bought.

Breaking news. According to MIPro, the UK music retail industry organ, the Gibson/TC Electronics merger has officially collapsed. I guess there will be a few suits at TC stepping back from the ledge.

Also, a major UK instrument retail chain with a shed-load of stores across the country has gone into receivership. Sign of the times maybe. There'll be a few distributors hurting for 6-figure sums. Not good for the industry. Seems like Fender are in the wings to buy a bunch of them and open some "Fender Superstores" Freakin' whoopee. That'll help.

I'd have to agree. I've always enjoyed the action on my P-Bass!

Don't know if this answers your question, but, so far it seems to have really helped Fender. Fender was able to move Guild/Tacoma production to a more modern facility with more than enough skilled workers to keep Guild and Tacoma moving forward. Also, Fender is beginning to integrate certain Kaman software and procedures to improve its efficiency model. Can't imagine Fender is not happy with the move.

I think everyone else has pretty well answered whether it is helped or hurt Ovation, Hamer, Takamine, etc.

Fender already bought Kaman and didn't ask me for my opinion? Oh the horror ...

No sure I'll lose any sleep over something I have absolutley no control of.
