Ok, marketing spoo aside, is there a real difference in sound or performance, other than where one inserts the strings, between string thru and bridge end guitars? Anyone ever compared same models with and without string through?

On an Ovation note, are any of the solidbodies string thru? Why is the EA68 Viper string through and the CV68 bridge end? Cheaper to make bridge end? Anyone compare the sounds head to head?

Just curious ...

Head to head, the string thru EA68 has more sustain than the Celebrity Viper.

Classic Gits. have bridge-end .. while others ..have Steels ( usually ) " through " .. a comparison would have t` be made .. say .. on a dread ( or an Ovi , which can take Both ), Nylon`s First and then Steels on same Git. ( or vice versa ), and THEN a GOOD Listen ..

Tell us all about it ..

Isn't there really three kinds of bridges on an electric - string through, tapeeze and stop bridge? I have virtually zero experience with electrics, but seems to be that the ones that string through from the back of the body would be a pain in the butt.

Sorry, I should have been more clear as I was referring to string-thru solidbody or chambered solid body style gits like the EA68. On my sons Strat the strings load from the back of the body and it really is no harder that loading from the back of the bridge.

What I have read is that string-thru gives more sustain (but of course this is by string-thru manufacturers) but that it can make bending strings harder. But I don't really understand why that should be, to me that implies higher tension but I don't see how that would be.

FWIW my 1271 Viper seems to have more sustain than the Strat but the strings are different as are pickups etc. so hard to say the reason.

Thanks for the comparison of the CV68 vs EA68 Jonmark.
