Hey, Clapton is 65 today according to NPR. Saw a clip of him on TV the other day. His voice seems to have matured nicely with age, a pleasure to listen to.

I saw a video performance in which Cale and Clapton played After Midnight together. It may have been a Crossroads fund raising performance. I found it on YouTube here: After Midnight

That was the first Crossroads concert (2004?). Clapton insisted on just being part of Cale's band and letting Cale have center stage. He obviously adores Cale.....

I liked it when they got to the part where they had to have someone step up front ... Cale nods for Clapton to go, and Clapton gives him this NFW look ...

Google JJ's guitars and it appears that Ovations were his main acoustic gigging guitars "because they are rugged and reliable". Check out his first electric - a Harmony acoustic with the back removed and 5 pickups stuck on the underside of the top. He says he recorded his first album with this and then "when he could afford it" bought a Strat.

I'd love to see a documentary on this man. I heard an interview with him and he harbored no resentment at all about Clapton's success with his songs. Was happry for Eric and happy for the royalty checks and wasn't worried about the fame. A So Cal acquaintance claimed that as of a few years ago he was out gigging in bars about every night. Any catch one of those?

Not as famous as Al. Hell, he's got a couple of T shirts with his likeness on them.
