I had the pleasure of having Jack Williams (Kotadawg) and Brad Wolfenden down from Ohio for the weekend.
Two of my buddies from Iraq who had purchased Ovations, one each from Brad and Jack, swung by too for a little mini-jam Saturday evening.
Funny thing all the O's present were Elites.

We had a great time and I tell you, Jack and Brad are the salt of the earth, fantastic guys, fantastic friends.
I am so very honored to have met them.

I put a few new photos on my "ning" page so please take a look.
I'm going to Florida to pick up my 68 DB and the 12 CL in a few weeks and I'll post some pics of those.
My Son Brandon's 77 Cb is in South Carolina getting a custom burst paint job and I will post some pics of it when it gets here too.

Again, I am really honored to be able to call these guys my friends and we consider them part of our family.

I look forward to meeting more of you all in the future!

Wish you could have been there too!

I took them up into the Smokies National Park to see Cades Cove but it was closed as they are repaving it's 13 mile loop road.
Went on a nice drive through the park down into Gatlinberg/Pigeon Forge.
Really pretty.

No way, they're repaving the loop road? Not like it needed it... Glad you guys had a good time in spite of Jack and Brad being there. ;)
Didn't Capo guy make it?

I put a few pics on my ning page, I don't know how to post 'em here.

Capo guy had to work, bummer, I 'd like to have had him over, he's a great guy too.

The Cove road DEFINATELY needed re-paving didn't it?
It'll be a lot nicer now.

Yeah, the road was in pretty bad shape last Dec when we were up there. Here's a pic of the culprits.

The loop road is paved? When did they do that?

OK, I guess it has been about 35 years since my last visit back home to Pittman Center... :(

They started the re-paving project last month and it is scheduled to be finished around April the 21st.
It has been paved for as long as I've been going ther, since around 1989 or so, not well paved, but paved :)
Nothing much changes out there, it's as beautiful as ever!

Love da Smokies.

This is one of my favorite places. It's about 1/2 hour out of Pigeon Forge.
Can't wait to get back there.

Wow Brad, I think I can see the "stock market crash diving platform" on the back side of that one.

Last time I was actually in Cades Cove was as a seasonal worker on the crew that was building what was to become a visitor center back by the old mill. Need to get back someday and see how everything turned out.
Definitely a beautiful part of the country.

Yeah we had a really gtreat time.
Can't wait to do it again.

dark bar& Iffy: we moved up to TN from Vero Beach in Indian River County, about 100 miles South of Daytona and pretty much directly across the State from the Tampa/Bradenton/Lakeland area.
I still have family there, in Ft. Pierce, Naples, Ocala, and the Gainesville areas.
Loree and I are going down next weekend for a quick visit and for my Grandmother's burial. She passed away in Feb while I was in Iraq. They had a memorial service and had her cremated, they were waiting till I could attend to do the actual burial. I wish I had enough time to try and visit with you guys while I'm in the area but time is just gonna be short this time I'm afraid. I'm gonna grab my two gits I had in storage at my Mom's while I'm there.

fletcher: The Grist Mill is still going strong and the place still gets tons of visitors, the Cove is one of my favorite places and I always take visitiors to the area for the 1st time up there, beautiful place, beautiful drive up and back.

Beggin: Yeah Brad plays really well. Jack smells :)

One of the benefits of making friends through these forums is the opportunity to meet every once in awhile, maybe share a meal, possibly jam, but most of all, get to know each other and talk guitars, gear, and generally pat each other on the back for our love for and appreciation of these great Ovation products. Some of the jams are significant and require lots of planning, but the spontaneous get-togethers of two or three folks can be equally rewarding. Sounds like a good time, Michael.
