Upon completion, the first Ovation Guitar was titled the "Josh White Model". Much to her dismay, however, the company never followed through with their verbal promise of giving Josh stock shares of the company." really makes it sound as though Josh helped develop the whole ovation concept and then was screwed for his effort.

He liked it but wanted a wider neck and 12 frets to the body, like his Guild. They built it and he endorsed it. Doesn't say anything about the company screwing him. But then a book about Ovation guitars probably wouldn't. I can't imagine that White would have been offered company stock. Usually, when an artist is offered a signature model, they are given a small percentage of the price of the guitar for every one sold.
