Location: Caribou, ME | Over the years I haven't paid much attention to where Pac Rim guitars were made. It's only in the last few years that I've even known (or cared) about the significance of the Red Label Yamahas for example, vs the black or tan labels.
I know they started making AA31's in Korea about 1982 and sometime close to that began making Celebrities.
I have a 1999 Epiphone Emperor Regent and based on the serial number I discovered it was made at the Peerless factory in Korea. I'm not familiar with others, I know there's Samick and I read somewhere that some Kaman products are made by a company called SP something or other. According to what I read (true or false), SP has been making Ovation products for about 8 years.
Is there any history on where the AA31 of the 80s would have been made?
I recently bought a blue AA31 on ebay for ten bucks and I was just going to use it for swap bait but it sounds and plays too good to let go.
I've bought five Ovations in the past month; a 1111-6, an AA-14-4, an AA-24-9, an AA-31, and an 1132-4. I've already got another 1111-6 plus an AA-14-1 and a KA-14. Maybe it's time for an intervention? |

Location: Cork, Ireland | Thats a good deal for an AA31 if its usable condition. I THINK mine was made in 85, in the US... |
