Personally, I prefer the Book because of the Optima, the hand rubbed urethane neck (no gloss!), and the perkies. The abalone inlays around the headstock are a nice touch too. But soundwise I'd say both the '87 and the Book are right there with a deep bowl Custom Elite. | ||

YMMV but I have owned and played most of what Kaman sells and has sold including 2 '87C's and a Book...nice guitars but nothing beats the OFC II...At least nothing made by Kaman: and seriously, very little else that's made by anyone else either...although there are a few... If it floats yer boat, buy it and enjoy it...but since you can only play one at a time, then get the very best that you can afford... If you just want to look at them, it doesn't matter how great it plays then, does it? | ||

He heard from a guy on his lunch break that it takes sometimes 28 or 29 times to get a special run of guitars right. That's just what I heard. | ||
