Location: Las Vegas, Nevada | We went to the Museum a couple of years ago for a ceremony to honor a friend and accept a permanent display of his equipment. I only got a couple of hours to spend wandering, but was so impressed with the exhibits, which change from time to time, I understand. I read letters from Hunter Thompson to Jann Wenner, saw Michelle Phillips tiny clothes, Rick Nelson's outfit and Les Paul from the cover of Garden Party, letters and postcards from John Lennon to Julian Lennon, Linda Ronstadt's fringed leather, Roy Orbison's guitars, John Cipollina's guitars and incredible amp rig, Jerry Garcia guitars, and on and on. Admission and inconvenience of parking were well worth it to me. I wouldn't exactly call it a bucket list thing, but if one likes memorabilia and enjoys rock history, the curators do a spectacular job. I plan to spend a weekend in Cleveland and spend a day there, as well as attend some ball games in the near future. |
