The production date on the PF-22 wasn't on the side of the headstock, but it WAS under the bridge/tailpiece...

March 20, 1980.

After, I went to the guitar store and picked up this stuff to lube the nuts on the guitars that were having the tuning "pings".

All gone now. This stuff works great!

A #2 pencil has never failed me. I put a graphite nut on my Breadwinner/Deacon LTD, and it's never failed me, either. If it works, don't fix it, but remember that the bridge is also a contact point, and a touch of graphite on it probably won't hurt.

Maxdaddy, were you able to use an off-the-shelf graphite nut?

I've used the GHS graphite with great results, and it won't discolor the nut.

I even used it on the UKII's brass nut. I wish I would have looked for this stuff sooner. That one's been pinging for a year now.

Simple to do too. I used a high E string as my "brush". Dipped it in the stuff then slid it all around the slot.

The best title for a thread and you get four serious responses. If you have a serious title all you ever get is a bunch of smartass responses. This board is nuts.
