I played both of them this morning and wasn't planning on doing an A/B comparison; and I guess I didn't really ; but that 1688 sounds fantastic and and certainly doesn't seem to take a back seat to the F512 for the short time I was comparing the two. Any one else ever compare these two? Regards, Tom

The Adamas and Guild are both very nice instruments in their own ways. Not the same, but both certainly top notch. I didn't want to keep more than one 12-string so I sold off the Adamas and kept the Guild. It was a coin toss and others might have flipped the other way. Tough to go wrong choosing between the two.

(I say production cause the McPhearson 12 that Moody, Waskel and I saw at NAMM was pretty spectacular)...... and since I sold off all my 12's for my custom built Baxendale I obviously love that one.... and finally of course, the beast! The Custom 2080D long neck 12 string that will rattle the roof and still sound clear as a ringing bell.

(I say production cause the McPhearson 12 that Moody, Waskel and I saw at NAMM was pretty spectacular)...... Unless I win the lottery (and I understand that you actually have to buy tickets to do that), I'll stand pat with what I've got......

I currently own several early Adamas 1688's... The Guild's were truly beautiful sounding 12 strings: the necks were thick and the J-65 was a heavy guitar...I loved owning them and played both constantly along with my Ovation Elite 1758 12 strings until: I heard my first Adamas 1688...and I bought one soon after. The Adamas, to my ear is simply the best all around 12 string guitar ever made...incredible Bass response, wonderful sustain, lots of volume and the ability to plug it in is of course a wonderful asset...While I own other 12's and consider the possibility I might buy a Guild 12 again someday, I come back to reality knowing I have all I need in my Adamas 1688's right now...
