Just wondering if anyone can help with my desire to replace the tuners on my new old legend. Or is that old new? Anyway...

I've had a look at stewmac and there are some that look like they would fit, but I would like to keep them officially 'ovation' if possible.
Would a resale like this one fit?

I can't seem to find any that have the older style ovation logo with the guitar on it which is a shame, as those are beaut.
Oh and that missing screw on the truss rod cover is niggling me already!

I think that those are Celebrity tuners that are on eBay.
Not that it matters that much. |

Looks like all the ones on ebay are with that out of place screw hole.

You could keep the tuners and replace the tuner buttons with something fancy. Paul Templeman from this board sells some really nice ones. |

You might be pleasantly surprised by using a mild metal polishing cloth on those tunas.
I totally remove all the hardware and just polish 'em while watching TV.
For really grungy tunas, check out this THREAD .
With yours being 'gold' plated, I'd try the cloth first. Keep us posted and good luck!  |

Thanks for the link to what a polish can do - Looks like I might scratch the gold off if I went 0000 wire though
I thought about just replacing the buttons but I thought it might look odd having new buttons with old tuners.
Maybe someone has a good idea of where I can get 1 x gold tuner button in 30 year old condition :) |

Maybe he's got one of those 30 yr old buttons to replace that one iffy one.
And re: screws, the 'mothership' might be...?!
I saw some stewmac ones that might do the trick, can always change all three so they match.
(ps. Tafkar I went onto ebay USA and found the legend. I think the seller under did the guitar in the ad, talking to him afterwards it seems like a real beauty. Of course I am lucky in that I'll be travelling there in the next few weeks so it's a lot cheaper than the same thing here in Aus!) |

Don't replace them with gold. Check out the alternatives Temp sells:

I put walnut ones on my Adamas and they look a treat. |

I just had a look on stemac and can't find any similar gold tuner buttons. Any ideas where one could find one that would suit this old beauty?
Could change all six I guess but need the oldness to match the machines as well.
Interestingly I took Iffy's tip on the metal polishing cloth and applied to to my other guitar's tuners and frets - WAHEY! Incredible restoration, especially on the frets. I thought a full fret dress was needed but the cloth worked miracles.
