I think it's pretty cool actually. Not something I'd have done, but it's done, might as well embrace it. Psycho folk art Applause

As to the paint job... I'm curious to see what it looks like in person. I haven't the creativity to come up with something like this (let alone the talent to implement it). I'm always amazed when someone goes nuts with a roll of masking tape and an airbrush, regardless of the colors and schemes. Kinda makes me wish I had a '64 Impala for him to customize. And out of my current 14(?) O's and A's, I only have 2 or 3 'good' cases, so a brown OHSC is always welcome. The neck heel was cracked and repaired but I don't see that as a problem since I did a good job hiding the repair on the 1674. Hopefully the neck set is okay, I'd hate to see it 'only' be a wallhanger.

It appears to me that when the crack was repaired, they shot some glue into the crack, then drilled and countersunk a couple long screws. The problem is that they should have at least let the glue dry before doing any drilling... everything seemed to get pushed out of alignment when they added the screws. I removed the screws and cracked open the glue joint. I determined the best way to ensure a decent new glue joint was to pass through the old repair with a coping saw. That would help get rid of old glue and clean up the mating surfaces. The fingerboard extension was still firmly attached so I didn't want to disturb it any more than necessary. I glued it a couple days ago, reinstalled the repair screws after the glue dried, and dowelled in the countersunk holes. There's no escaping the visible repair; it WILL show, so I may just mask it off and spray the heel black. Or I may sunburst the back of the neck like I did the 1674.
