No sound came out, ok, the battery is gone dead. I took the preamp out, changed the battery and replaced it in the guitar. Nothing!! It doesn't work. It was my only VIP-5 preamp. I put it out again and saw smoke coming off at the sliders. Quickly I took out the new battery which was hot in that two minutes. I think that the VIP is for the trash now. I liked it most in 2009C or in the Pacemaker. Is anybody out there who has one for sale? I want to replace it. Bernie

(That might have caused the problem?) (note to self; check ALL your batteries.) ;) Good luck… hope you can find a simple repair/replacement soon…

The VIP was working fine all the time, until today. I use VARTA High energy or DURACELL batterys for my electronocs, never had any issues. I've 12 guitars with preamps!! Standing: The VIP-5 worked fine till last Tuesday I think I was playing this guitar at last over the amp. All the time no problems. Bernie

I bought it from a friend here, maybe a year ago. So I've no "Warranty" at all for anything. You can change the OP-Pro for the VIP-5 for the OP- Pro-Studio and the IDEA. If something happend to that which is not "in the warranty" of the guitar, what are you doing then?? Bernie

My Studio went tango-uniform at about 14 months of age and it was not under warranty any longer. But those are the terms. The same preamp delivered in a new guitar comes with the lifetime warranty. Bernie, I believe that you want to get a VIP that is specifically programmed for your model of guitar.
