i thought that the slotheads only had the batterie cover on the side and the first production run had it decentral at the back.

i have a book american guitars from tom wheeler which includes an ovation chapter. there is a photo of an adamas I which has the batterie cover of a slothead but the peghead of the production run.

Hi Gerald;

No, the earliest non-slothead Adamas 1 guitars also had the side bowl access door.

These are the sexiest guitars ever made!
Even in B&W!

No fingerboard inlays. That's a really early production example.

I'm not sure, Gerald, but it would have been very early, probably around #100 or sooner.

I'd go with the 100 or lower.

In about 1992, my wife bought me The "Ultimate Guitar Book" by Tony Rice...boy, if only she had known what a can of worms that would open, she probably would have just gotten me socks and underwear!

Wayne, That book was by Tony Bacon, not Tony Rice, you're getting your authors/food-types all mixed up.
