Location: Flahdaw | Ok, I always thought these things were about as mickey mouse as you could get, but now I kinda think they might come in handy and be pretty comfortable for playing. Who's ever tried one?

Location: Bluffton, SC | I think Tom Sholtz (sp?) used one (for an Ovation 12 string no less) on the Boston tours back when they were making the rounds but I wouls have to agree with the Professor. It would just get in the way of windmills and it'd be almost impossible to throw one through a drum kit so the show would definitely suffer in the end. |

| In 1927 when I first saw Yes, and Steve Howe and me were both only middle-aged, he used one to hold his acoustic while he played The Clap or whatever it was called.
Personally I liked the bass player and the drummer and I thought the rest of 'em were just noodling around being prats.
100 million albums later I guess they were right and I was mistaken. I don't like the word wrong. |

It strikes me that at high volume, an acoustic makes all sorts of not so entertaining noises, and a turn in the wrong direction could render an audience deaf. The idea of having the guitar, on a spot, where you can just walk up and play it, sounds rather appealing. |

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba CANADA | These 'guitar-on-a-stick' things (in one form or another...) were a standard in prog and fusion for years.
I remember seeing Michael Dunford (Renaissance) using one live to hold up his Adamas 1688 while playing his slung 1687. I thought that was the definition of prog-chic.
Also saw Pat Metheny using one to keep his 12 string acoustic handy while he played electric.
How could you not like them? They are very utile and allow you to do things that would be pretty hard otherwise...

Location: Jet City | Alex Lifeson from Rush came up with the idea on the Hemispheres tour. I think he made the first one from either a mic or cymbal stand. He patented it and mass-produced it as the 'Omega Guitar Stand'
The best part... He built it for his Ovation!
He still uses them today, Ovations too. I snapped this pic at the 2008 show at the Gorge...

The M-Brace connects by the strap buttons, which is a good idea.
But otherwise it is about the same thing.
The M-Brace basically hold a strap, hook it in the buttons, tighten the strap, viola!

You just walk up and play the part then back off. It's a great idea, How much do they cost again? |
