Hi folks,
last week I've played my 95C plugged in at a session with my brother. I don't noticed the cable for a moment, stepped back and stand on it. There was a very loud "clonk" and then is was very quiet.
The outer ring of the output jack was broken.
At home I tried to repair it, but without any success, something inside must be broken, too.
That output jack is a very special one, it has 9 connection pins and I don't found one anywhere on the web.
Now I need your help:
Anybody out there who has that 1/4" jack or the complete output unit of an Optimax preamp, or the complete Optimax with the output unit, please let me know.
I'm extremely sad about that, because this guitar is my workhorse. I love that Optimax preamp most, because of it's versatility of sound.

Bernie

Sounds like the XLR jack. The factory is probably your best bet.

Thank's Bobbo, the XLR works, but I can't activate the onboard mic and the eq. In the 1/4" jack the switch dosn't work anymore.
Can anybody shoot me a PM with the email addresses from the MS??

Thanks a lot

It's too late to be of use to Bernie but a handy little trick I came up with after I did exactly the same thing and not only destroyed the jack, but literally pulled it right through the front of the guitar (the jack came right through the wood on a front-mounted 'strat-type' guitar...) :o

On all my guitars, I now leave the straps slightly longer and loop the lower strap hole through strap pin with the outside of the strap facing the body and then also attach it using the next hole up the strap creating a handy hanging loop to put the cord through. This acts as a stress-relief in case you do step on the cord accidently.

I used to just put the cable between the body and the strap (resting on the strap pin, as most people do...), but found it created wear on the edge of the body and was a bit too easy to knick the back of the guitar with the end of the guitar jack when plugging in on stage (usually in the dark...).

This also works with strap-loks (you just put the lower one in the second hole up the strap). This system has worked really well so far. I have stepped on the cable a few times now and at worst you might break the cable, but likely not the jack or the guitar itself.

Hope this tip is useful...

:)

John, thanks for your very good advice. That is a very good idea!
But I also want to repair my guitar. Nobody out there with a spare part for me??
