used ones sell for over 12K so I doubt you could get one built for the numbers OMA quoted.....

but ask Al.

Definitely ask Al. I think you're looking at something more than $3k delivered as a guess based on what a fairly plain custom job would have cost me a year ago.. Each little thing makes a difference, though, and I could see it being a lot more. That's a pretty fancy guitar. Calling Al is the only way to get a good number.

Just had something similar priced at over 5K list

2.5? is that a joke? are you listing List or street prices? even then it is a joke?

why do you answer questions where you have no clue? or area of expertise? it just perpetuates rumor and innuendo.

Having had an 1187 slothead custom built to my specs through Al, I can tell you that my cost was, at that time, within the range quoted by OMA. However, the actual price will vary significantly based on all the custom features added or deleted. Rather than speculate, just give Al your specs and see what he can do for you. Everybody deserves their own one-off custom guitar. You will treasure it if it can be built. My 1187 custom slothead SSB has become my primary gigging guitar, and I love it.

Uh, I was entered in a contest with much better people to win a $5,000 Custom Adamas...

The people at the Roadshow stated that you could buy the guitars on the tour for $2,500 right then.

That is where I got my numbers. Seemed plausible and experienced enough when I typed it.

(You can buy a 30th Anny Adamas for $1,963 on d'Bay)

Gee, I got a real one kinda like that, 1187-7, #53.
I'd let go for $30,000.

Not that I expect anyone to pay that.

I guess my OFC slothead isn't exactly a one off custom, but it is #3 of 12. And it's become my primary, "go to" guitar. The three chords have never sounded better.....

Kinda reminds me of when we were kids. We'd all go down to the local plunge and show off for the girls by doing our best cannon balls off the spring board. Then Pete's really big and really fat older brother George would show up and do his preacher off the 10' platform, soaking every person in the lounge chairs around the deep end and getting kicked out of the pool as a result.

Are you calling Beal fat?

I want to get my OFC1 heavily sprayed with the brass flecks to make it a gold top like Elias' above. Think the factory could tape everything off an just spray the top?

Naw! We all loved Big George, and dreamed that some day, we, too, would be able to make as big a splash as he did, although truth be told, we never could.

Last time I checked, OMA was doing custom paint jobs at a fraction of the cost of the factory (:

If I'm right, the guitar on the pics was ordered by Elias as a copy of his "gold top" original Slothead.
Basically, it's a Beige with lots of sparkles on the top.
She's now a part of the impressive Povation's collection!!
