Just wanted to know other's opinions ... I have both, but I also know that each guitar can sound different in its own right.

My 1537 has a very distictively-warmer tone than my 87 Collector's, which DOES also sound great accross the tonal spectrum, but does project more mid/highs than the 1537. Has anyone else noticed this difference, or is it just my guitars?

Vince, I don't have a 1537 yet, but if you'd like to send me yours for a year or so, I'd be happy to make a comparison to my 87c...

I have a 87C and a 1547 and the 87C sounds much darker, deeper with a lot more bass...

But it could only be because it's tuned down one note.

Have a nice weekend,
Kurt

Bryan, please tell me your opinions 1537 vs. 2009C, because I have no 87C. The 2009 also has dark voice, but my 1537 is the most bassy I own.

All of them have distinctly-different tones. I'd have to say that the 09C is somewhere between the 1537 and 87C, with the 1537 noticeably warmer(I haven't found anything that compares to the 1537, even though I thought the 87C would). To me, the 09C sounds a lot like a Custom Legend, but better(warmer) and much easier for me to play with that nice wide neck. Now that I have sold my nice 1619 CL, I don't really miss it(now having the 09C). That old CL (although stunning to look at) had a skinny neck that sometimes just welded my fingers together. Since my ulnar nerve surgery(still not healed), I couldn't even play it. Now with all that said, electronics are all completely different also. I wish I could afford to have that Op Pro Studio put in each one of them. I had a new FET system put in the 1537 (still very nice sounding), but after playing with the OpPro Studio, the Op24 really leaves much to be desired. ... oh yeah, Along with getting rid of the CL I sold my 07C to fund the 12-String purchase. (SORRY...I just realized I've been rambling on. I must be getting old)

I'm keeping my eye out for a good deal on an '09c.

Good luck to you on that one ... just being able to get a hold of one is a good deal now.
