Anyone know anything about the new wood topped Adamas guitars? Are these basically remakes of the 1537's?

I played one at the Ovation Roadshow, didn't feel at all like a 1537 to my fingers nor did it sound like one to my ears, but it was a VERY nice guitar.

Yes and no. You could look at it as putting a wood top on an Adamas, 30 years on. The WT has the suspension ring and Adamas 1 bridge, but aside from that, it's all the same stuff ... except it's the next generation, (i.e. contour bowl, cutaway, electronics, inlaid eppies, new neck, etc). Fretboard and inlays, headstock, bracing, AAA spruce are the same general specs a 1537. I played one at the roadshow and thought it was real nice, but very tight compared to my 1537. But then again, it's 30 years on.

The Bracing is not quite the same either.
It lacks the beachwood brace across the upper bout that the 1537 & Thunderbolt has.

I agree with Bobbo its tighter sound. Personal perference which is better.

Hmmmm.....interesting.
I will have to add into my lexicon, "one-bolters" vs. "two-bolters", akin to preamp knob configurations.

My impression, when I played one, was the same as with the '10 collectors, it had a very compressed sound. Having said that, if I were looking for a new guitar, it would be in the running. Ovations/Adamii do open up over time. And they are a very nice and well built guitar.

My Legend and 87C, both with new bodies in the last 3 years, have both opened up and sound wonderful. My guess is that the WT Adamas would be the exact same. And that mounting ring gives it a bit more volume for more sound......
