Here is the fret board off of the 1990 I picked up on craigslist for $100.00.
My first attempt at fixing the twist in the neck was not successful! and after hearing what a new neck would cost me, I decided to try it again. completely this time, including a re-fret.

Here is the progress so far.
Fret board sanded and ready.

A third of the way thru the re-fretting process

more pictures as it progresses.

Lookin good! Just out of curiosity though, why not replace the binding while the frets are off? Looks like it's not in the best shape (could just be the pictures) and its not too hard to do!

I thought about that, but I didn't want to have to place an order and wait for it.

Fret board re-fretted, I ran out of fret material on the last four frets, had to use some old frets from a cheap Chinese acoustic....Oh well, who plays up that high anyway right!

When I started working on the neck, there was some glue left on the neck, I went to scrape it off and the wood started crumbling away, I took my carving set and started carving out the "dead" wood.

I filled the areas that were just carved out with wood glue and a hefty helping of Mahogany dust.

Now we will let it sit for a day, sand it down and see what happens.

Neck back together, frets leveled, and about half way thru the fun of crowning!

There was a lot of chipping of the edges of the neck will I was trying to get the fretboard off the second time.....can you say wood filler LOL!
