I want to put a pickup in a '70's Pacemaker 12 string. I want to alter the guitar as little as possible; no knobs or dials or sliders or control panels. A luthier recommended Fishman's acoustic matrix. I've always been happy with Fishman; I was just curious to see what you guys thought.

Lots of good possibilities out there. On the cheap I get the Artec Piezos on Ebay and they can plug into most any Preamp.

You might want to consider adding the iDea like this one:

Technically, you can run the piezo, undersaddle pickup to a 1/4" output jack, then to your amp. You might make your life a bit easier by buying a 3/32" female jack, so you can just solder it into the circuit, instead of whacking off the male jack on the pickup lead.

Check out L R Baggs pickups LB6 series. These work really well with ovation acoustic conversion.

James Taylor likes L R Baggs; that's a high recommendation.

These are all good suggestions. I don't mind a jack in the bowl (there's a hole for one; in a weak moment I once hard wired a Dean Markley ProMag in it! :D ).
