I posted a couple week attempts to the contest. I'm not much of a designer -- more of a photographer, so I took the easy way out and just used a few of my photos as the designs!

Some nice designs by OFCers.
Anyone else think the template should have been horizontal?

Only those who actually play them...

I tried to upload a design about 4 different times, but the site wouldn't receive it. It is the right resolution and format with the transparent background... everything that I could see that they required. I finally just gave up.

I had problems uploading at first too. Everything was perfect for what they specified, but nothing was happening when I hit the "Submit" button. tried it from home on a different computer and it worked though...

Yeah, I wish you had the option to design vertically or horizontally, as most of my photos are in landscape orientation...oh well.

So after getting three rejection emails for not meeting criteria I get a more personal email from the company running the contest. Somehow I un-transparencied my template...

I thanked her for the contest and offered my opinion that they will only get submssions from Graphic Artists and not from Guitar Players since they relied so heavily on the tools needed to submit.

So once again the Marketeers dictate what the Musicians get to see. Where's Cliff when you actually want him to add his two cents?

We need more switch hitters...

I DO have a graphics background, and I gave up after 3 times. ): ...Definitely a screwed up situation.

There are a lot of really cool entries. There are even a few designs I like a lot. But there aren't too many I would buy a guitar for.

Maybe I'm too old...

+1 While the two idea's I had are not on par with what's been uploaded already, I thought they were worth doing, but I agree, requiring a proprietary format was a little odd.

By choosing two high end, expensive, professional graphics tools to create the designs, they greatly narrowed the entries they would receive.

I'm sure there were a lot of great ideas we'll never see.

I designed/modified this w/ the folks at the New Hartford shop in 2002:

Still holds up as my go-to acoustic. It was originally an Elite Custom Concert...

Cheers!

I couldn't get the tools to produce my ideas for me and give me a file I could submit either. Poor planning on the part of the contest organizers. I have an awesome idea for a design I call Celtic Fusion that in my opinion blows away the previous submissions. I might work it up in the design software I regularly use (been a sign designer 30 years) and submit it anyway even if contest has ended). One thing is for sure, if I win a lottery I will have a Celtic Fusion guitar made regardless. Too bad nobody will see my concept now tho.
