He fell from a second story, and suffered major spinal cord damage to his lower back, requiring fusion of 4 vertebrae. Doctors said he would be discharged right away and returned to a spinal cord specialty facility in the states, and discharged from the Corps. And also stated IF he ever walked again it would be with some kind of device. That was just two weeks ago. Last week he returned to NC, and yesterday was able to go home for Christmas. He can walk slowly with a cane right now, his commanding officer says they'll give him a year to try and recover before looking at separation from the Marine Corps. He's not out of the woods though... He has no control of his organs from the waist down at this time. Truly a blesing for him to be home, but at the same time, difficult times for the family.

(Who has been gone a month) I already told him I'll give him a year before I'll require him to do a three-mile run with me.
