I wrote up a good proposal on Ovation guitars. It would be great if I get their attention and it actually materializes. I think it would be a fascinating episode.

You can go to the forum by copying and pasting the URL above and rate the suggestion with a star. The more stars it gets, the more they consider the suggestion. The topic in the forum is called Ovation Guitars.

The hand laid fiberglass bowls are a different thing than the Lyracord bowls (a formula used to inject into molds), and never seen any thing to indicate they make rotor blades from Lyracord. I'm also pretty sure there is no kevlar used in the construction on any Ovation or Adamas guitars, and don't forget that only the Q used all synthetic materials (which never really went to market). I tried to rate five stars for you, but it requires giving them personal information and I'm currently on a personal crusade to limit how many people are spamming me.

If I read that correctly, both hand laid and injection molded bowls are Lyrachord. Even the earliest Balladeer brochures show them to have Lyrachord bowls, and those were certainly handlaid.

Maybe they could do an Adamas Custom Shop segment, or a Guild episode, since that seems to be what New Hartford is dedicated to.

He was especially fascinated with the airbrushers and pinstripers, and tried his hand at it. We had to clean his work off before it dried. That guy is the same in real life as his Cliff Claven character on Cheers. It was fun.

I'm not certain about the bowls of the 70's but in the early 80's they went to an injection molding. About 10 years ago they started doing the hand laid bowls for special guitars. The new mallable stuff is a new mix of the old mixture. All that is what I think. The reality of the situation, damned if I know.....

The bowls were lighter and stronger, and they started appearing on the LX line whith all the new features. I pretty sure that except for the hand-laid ones on the special models, all of the contour bowls are microsphere lyrachord. I remember being able to hold both the new and old bowls at the factory tour way back when, and it was amazing how much lighter and more flexible the MS bowls were than the original injection bowls.
