are there any interesting solid body ovations that might not be up to collector's condition but are in player's condition or need minor touch up, set up or repair? let me know what you have and how much. thanks russ swider

bill,

by now i guess i read enough on the fan club site to know you arent a gas station attendant who happens to collect ovations and airplanes. when you mentioned 10,000 winds on the k2 coils i put two and two together.

so anyway, sure, i'd be interested in a uk2 YOU thought was worth owning. i have one already with a minor repair to the head stock and a sunburst green one i havent seen yet that i had shipped to my old blacksmith's shop in new mexico. i think the uk2 is just about the most unique electric i've seen and just might make them the focus of my personal collecting.do you know if any of the original drawingsetc are still around?

i have some good friends in florida coming to visit in april and they can bring me one more guitar (they are already bringing me a flamed 12 string pinnacle) so getting it here is no sweat as long as it is in one of your bomb proof cases. that way they come in duty free. i hope i can afford it as i have been on an ovation frenzy lately.

i guess you didn't check your personal mail on this site yet under 'my profile'. i sent something to you yesterday.

all the best and thanks for the offer, russ

Best place I can thing of is E-Bay. I got my UK-II for $195. I saw a Custom Legend go for $275 this week. They have a few Vipers on there right now. Worth checking out.....

This thread reminded me that I got a shower (diluted... but still painful) with that stuff once.. It seems they put the water and fuel in the same tank for safety reasons and with the natural separation, all is fine... unless the level of whatever is on the bottom gets too low... whoops...

I've been told (but don't know for sure) that using soap on a regular basis negates the need for a solvent when you shower. Could be just a rumor or a distortion those health people tell.

it's true bill. i worked on the north slope of alaska in a mobile seismic camp. we had to melt snow to make water and there was never enough to take a shower even if you were brave enough. they just sent you to fairbanks when you smelled like you needed a break.

well one day i accidentally discovered a solution when i was fueling the power plant at minus 40 f. the fuel cells (like two huge tires with a short axle between them) had a quick couple fitting like on an air hose but 2" in diameter. well the coupling mechanism didn't hook up like it was supposed to at 40 below and i got a liberal dousing with #2 diesel before i got out of the stream. froze my cheek (one of those large lower ones) so bad it peeled like a burn. but no one said i smelled bad for weeks as everything in camp smelled like stove oil or diesel anyway.

i had an old spanish guitar with me then and it turned to kindling from all of the temp shock it went through. we should have had a few ovations with us instead. heck in an emergency we could have hooked a few huskies to them and headed across the brooks range. but you guys were just starting then--------1968 russ

I had my trusty Medallion with me on Adak for a few years.. (just recently found out it's a Mediallion and not a Matrix as previously claimed.. ) Anyway... it survived the cold nicely. The Sea Otters like the tunes too.

yeah, a few, and the first one that comes to mind after seeing elias' super adamas collection goes "oh hey and up she rises".

maybe that is a subconscious attraction men have to ovations. they have that shape we have all have made with our hands to indicate a shapely gal. they are rounded and sensuous, they squirm a bit on your lap pretending to try to get away, and moan and giggle when you hit the strings just right.

i never thought this thread would wind up here, but you guys are allot of fun. my new favorite guitar site.

even sports a g-string that you can actually see and touch whenever you want without getting decked.

Sorry... ex sailor (guess I'm just temporarily out of water).. had to go there..
