I contacted K K in the service dept with my plight and obligingly dropped not one but TWO truss rod covers in the mail at no cost... I ask you, how many companys, whether it be in the music business or otherwise, go out of their way to support products that are sometimes decades old? My experiences go back to the days when Ray Gantic headed up the service department and it has alwas been the same, anything thay can do for you thay do, often above and beyond the call. I will be playing their products until I can no longer play anything . . . :) Thanks Ovation, you are a class act! Wayne

He forgot the covers, and I'll be damned if I'm going to bug him about them. He's been absolutely great to me over the years. p.s. I found the covers someplace else.

I've just bought a 1617-4 Legend from a certain vintage dealer in Bellmawr, NJ (Hi, Al!) and am awaiting delivery. Would it be OK to obtain one of these Glen Campbell truss rod covers and put it on this Legend of mine? Hey, I bought it, it's my guitar, and I can do it, right? Awaiting your opinion! So who has one available for me to put on the ole Legend?

It will do wonders for your ego. Bailey :D I had a music store set me up a cheap cutaway flat top with an acoustic pickup because I was tired of taking my good guitar on gigs in bars. He put a brass plate in it neatly engraved with "Custom built for Bailey ..." as a joke. Everybody who saw it praised its quality.

Of course, aren't all of us who get up in front of people and show all the things we don't know about our instruments, egotists. If we weren't we would listen to that guy in the back row who is shouting "You aint no Chet Atkininians". I am such an egotist that my favorite acoustic guitar has rhinestone tipped bridge pins so they will flash in the spotlight. Egotist, string player is thy name. Thank you, I love it. Bailey PS: Sometimes we get applause, and we are ruined for life and beyond (as we have sold our soul for more of that!!)

They outlawed fireworks here because of the dry weather. Being New Mexico, the rebellion has been intense, if it weren't for a thundershower earlier, we would have burned to the ground. A gun shy dog on the 4th makes me a humble humble egotist. Also note that I sold my soul for applause, not for mastery of my instrument as was said of Robert Johnson. Bailey

Joined: February 2002 Posts: 613 Location: Zion, Illinois | Ya know, Ovation OWES me a Glen Campbell truss rod cover! The neck of my GC 12-string broke in 1980. I sent it to Ovation. They put a new neck on it and sent it back. The tuners were different, and the truss rod cover no longer said Glen Campbell, it was blank. I have suffered from that day forward. It's time for Ovation to set right this horrible deed. Yes, I could just steal the GC truss rod cover from my wife's GC Ovation, but how would she feel? come on Ovation, give me back my truss rod cover. Since you sent me a blank, it HAS to be there somewhere. Just look around a bit, it will turn up..... Bradley
