Location: Sweden | I´m about to buy a "Custom Legend 1869" crafted in USA back in -91.
This guitar is in mint condition (it has been played on for 2.5 hours since it was bought new from the shop in -95) but it has two cracks in the paint on the head. I know all of this for sure cause its a very old friend of mine thats selling it. My question is......what is a reasonable price???
New 1869 in Sweden: 30500 SEK / 3050 USD.
The offer for me: 17000 SEK / 1700 USD.
Is it worth it???? |

Location: Scotland | If I'm reading your post correctly that seems very high. In the UK a Custom Legend in good shape with a case goes for about £6-750GB/$1300US privately, add 20% more from a dealer.
They go on ebay regularly for quite a bit less than a grand USD. Ovations obviously are more common in the USA than Europe so regional prices are conditioned by availability, but I think you'd get a better deal elsewhere. Many Ebay dealers in the US will ship to Europe, but watch shipping charges & import taxes. Closer to home there are several German dealers on ebay who regularly have Custom Legends at realistic prices.

Location: Sweden | Well what i didnt mention is that he lets me pay him about 100 USD a month, theres no charges for the finance 0f the buy. If i would have gotten the money from the bank the would charged rent. This means that i "earn" about 16% of the cost(8% a year).
16% of 1700 USD = 272 USD
1700 - 272 = 1428 USD
1428 USD used 2.5 hours and its allready in my home....is it still worth it??? |

Location: Scotland | If you like the guitar it's worth it, though be prepared to take a hit if you ever sell it.

Location: Sweden | Ooops the money exchange rates was wrong;
17000 SEK = 1564 USD
so after the finance it would be 1292 USD
And if i import something to Sweden, the government would like me to pay them 25 % extra charge in taxes for the imported guitar...but thats Sweden LOL. |

Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | As I learned Sebastian, If that guitar plays/feels as though it was made just for you, and you can afford the price, BUY IT! and DON'T SELL IT! and then IT WON'T MATTER what you paid, you WILL BE HAPPY!!!!
Norse(agonized over buying my Legend, until my wife basically pulled the trigger FOR me! If it broke in half today, I would still never regret it! That guitar is part of my life now)man1 |
