Heh, either way, this guitar is without a doubt the coolest guitar I've ever played. I'm gonna sell my other guitars now cuz I've finally got my guitar for life.

I was in a music store the other day and there was an early Ibanez model that was almost exactly the same guitar shape as the GP..The upper bout was not quite as long as the GP.I picked it up and it just looked and felt like they were made in the same place...I did a double take on it until i looked at the headstock..

Joined: October 2003 Posts: 148 Location: Munich | well benjamin, I restaurate vintage guitars in my spare time and I have bought a maton pm1 with super2's and the result is the same. it always depends on the pu's the number of boards the body was made and the kind of wood. I also tested super2's in a maple bolt on tele and it sounds completly different. but what makes the gp so unique is the sound of the pu's and the design of the guitar. surely you can play the gp also with seymour duncan's and it'll sound great but you wouldn't find this kewl mixture between headstock, appearance of fretboard and body with that ultra kewl binding at any other guitar. a gp will always be a gp and nothing else. that what I like about this guitar it's not the 10.000th single cutaway gibby style instrument it's just a well designed and functional guitar that you can compare with a mercedes 300 sl. a pain in the eye, and a threat to all other guitars. --------------------------------- GregDK@crankmusic.com

Mp3s and such are in the media section, we are a young band, with a modern sound, I'm not sure of the age range of people on this board, or if my band will quite float your boat. But check it out guys! Later! Josh

Joined: October 2003 Posts: 148 Location: Munich | @spacemonkey: kewl idea, I want to see some pics of it when its finished. but I really think buying a ukII would be cheaper. @wayne: yes , it was really funny to wrap it out. I think ebola viruses for scientists aren't sent safer than this gp. I was very glad to see it in such mint condition. but one of the pu covers was flaping a 'lil bit. but I fixed it. @josh: I cannot agree with your statement at your homepage. I also love the GP but it's not the only kewl guitar from Ovation. Well, seems like you've never played a UKII ;-) @all: the crank guys of crank are wishing you a merry x-mess and a crappy new year. rock on and keep that strings shake.

Made in '84 it was part of the short lived "hardbody" series. The only set neck electric guitar ovation ever put into production. Pretty damn rare and at this point really damn expensive. Made popular by Josh Homme of Kyuss / Queens of the Stone Age and me :) Search the member gallery for the GP you'll see some pictures of 'em. In fact my gallery (ickygoo) is full of the ones I own (some have found new homes) and has a couple pics I took of a GP in action at a QOTSA show. Samova, Mr. Ovation,tomcatt99, and s_mkheidze also have pics of the elusive GP. Oh and it's also my favorite guitar. I wish I had more.

I have a wine red GP and from pictures online it looks dull but in person, the thing is beautiful. Kinda like girls...Some of them look soso in pictures but look amazing in person. Hehe...
