I am still looking for a wide neck steel string Ovation guiatr, such as the # 1614.
I am not particular about bowl depth or neck length.

Location: Corvallis, OR | Oops - I was in a hurry when I wrote the above entry - my Ovation #1614 is a nylon stirng, but I am after a steel string equivalent.
Thanks

Location: the BIG Metropolis of TR | Hello Felix,
Your #1614 SHOULD be a steel stringed guitar because that model # would make it a Folklore!!
The #1613 is a nylon stringed Classic guitar!
. . . . . .

Location: Scotland | Or if it's a 1624 it could be a nylon-string Country Artist, but Mike's correct, a 1614 is a steel-string folklore |

Location: Corvallis, OR | I finally have it straight - I looked at the model numbers on my exisitng Ovations and got them all mixed up. I have a 1614 nylon wide neck (not classical), and a very old #1863 wide neck steel string (soon to be returned to the factory for removal of it's "hump.")
I play very different music on the two guitars, and I am now looking for another steel string guitar , so I can leave it in an open tuning.
Apparently, these "wide necks" are not as common as I thought.

You've STILL got your model # mixed up or the strings are backasswards!!
1614 = STEEL string Folklore
1863 = NYLON string Legend Classic
. . . . .
Swap your strings around!!! Mike  |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Felix, Exactly what in the heck are you looking for? You own a 1614 which was designed to have steel strings on it. Your 1863 was designed to have nylon strings. So what exactly are you searching for? Dave |

Location: Corvallis, OR | It seems that I have had the model numbers reversed in my mind all the time I owned these, but I dont pay much attention to (or retain) model numbers - but you are all correct - the nylon string is 1863 and the steel string is 1614.
I am looking for any equivalent of the 1614, so I can leave it in an open tuning. (daily re- tuning shortens string life noticeably. )
I dont care about neck length or bowl depth, but it must have the wider neck, (which is wider than normal, but less than the full classical width.)
Actually, I dont even know if Ovation still makes a this item...
Thanks for the time and thoughts

Location: Scotland | Current equivalents are the FD14 Folklore Deluxe or the 6774 Folklore, 12 fret deepbowl & 14 fret midbowl respectively, both have wider necks & slot-heads. Alternatively you could do what I did & have a custom-made wide-neck. |
