I am new to the board, so forgive me if I am awkward here. I have a Classic 1113-4 which was a gift to me in 1973. It is in mint condition with hard case. I am interested in selling it because, to be honest, it has always been awkward for me to play. Can anyone advise me on how much I could expect to sell it for? I have not been able to find much info on it since it has been discontinued. Your input will be appreciated.

A 1113 recently sold on eBay for $275. Model 1116 (very similar) have sold for 222.50 (soft shell case), $275, $300, and $340.

CI911,

Are you anywhere near Kitsap County? How does the guitar feel awkward?

If you put "roll" into the search you will find several suggestions. there are a variety of neck sizes as well and you might find help here on that.

Good Luck

MWOODY,
Thank you for your reply. I live on the north oregon coast....not far. The guitar is beautiful. It has always been awkward for me to play, though...slips off my lap while playing, because of the rounded back. The body is deep and feels heavy to me. I haven''t played for several years and want to get back into it but have decided to get another guitar.

I have read in these hallowed pages the many regrets of owners parting with their first "O" only to learn more about them later and wish they still had them. For under $300 I would hang on to it and try a few different guitars.

The classics are a wider on the fingerboard and may not have the volume of the steel srung. You need to figure out what you want to accomplish and then gather the tools to do it!

Campfires or Coliseums? Lullabies or a Garth Brooks Laments. It's all good.

I would love to have a Classic at this time but my Wife says I don't need another one :(

Check out "Why didn't I think of it sooner".

LOL

I had some non-skid shelf liner that I bought from my local drug store (Longs Drug), and just cut off a piece. Works greats and doesn't take up any space in the case. I have seen profession classical guitar players using something similar.

I am in the market for an Ovation Classical. Is the 1113-4 acoustic-electric? If not, I am not interested. Also, you mentioned that it slips off of your leg. The deep bowl Ovations originally came with a rubber piece on the bottom to prevent it from slipping. I have recently had to replace that piece on my Artist Balladeer. Contact Ovation. They will provide this rubber piece to you at no-charge.
