At this time I am paring down my collection further and am considering selling a 28.5" scale (nut to saddle) black Adamas 12 string with case. There is not a ding or scratch on the instrument. I have URLs below for jpgs. There is a handwritten label on the inside back that was hard to get a good photo of. It reads: This is the 3rd "D" 12 string guitar made( the 2nd Adamas "D" 12 string) completed Feb. 1996 Charles Kaman II The guitar has been tuned down a full step (D model) and sounds, of course, truly majestic. It has gold Schallers, XLR and 1/4" jacks and is truly stunning in appearance in sound. If anyone has been looking for a long scale 12, feel free to check out the jpgs., ask questions, and/or make me an offer. I thought I would put this guitar in front of the OFC before listing it on eBay since my experience last time was good. Here are the jpgs:

Funds are lacking and I was planning to custom a Baritone Carbon top with LX features in a couple of years. This is a historical and lovely instrument. I hope it goes to a home where it is played and enjoyed (and recorded?). Great pics too.

I know, obviously, the highest bidder. However...Mark has given us the first opportunity which is appreciated. It is rare, unique, with excellent workmanship; however there is also a limited market for it. Not much info on it in OFC archive or web.

My attempt at finding out (2 months ago) what was available to do this - with some compromises - was about $3200 Retail ($2200 Reality?). Besides not having an abundance of guitar funds, I have decided to hold out until the newer technology allows for a deep/Full bowl and appropriate neck. It is the effect I am after and not the history. Is it reproducable? Yes, at some cost. The art is not lost and the craftsman are still available. Historically - these instruments are somewhat tucked away and are not featured by any specialty Artist with any great success. But for the Historian or Instrument Epicurian they are unique to say the least. The largest claim for fame is that it is an original of six. As they would say on the PBS "Road show" between $1500 and $2500 until this genre of art is fully appreciated. For love of the instrument I would give it to a recording artist that would use it to it's potential (Popcritic, are you listening?). Maybe a loan would be more suitable! That would cause others to be made and would boost the value of the originals. For financial gain alone I would advertise it in a Tokyo newpaper as much as I find that idea disturbing. I did not mean to injure any feelings. Pretty soon someone who knows what they're talking about should post.

There are Collectors, Consumers and a whole lot of undecided wishers or Watchers. I know I cannot dedicate that much resource to collecting. I play for free. I guess that makes me a Watcher. The question then is... which are you? I want to see this beautiful instrument in the hands of a first class Consumer. If not, it should be preserved by a Collector. I'm just going to have to watch... for now. :(

For me, my limitation will probably be wall space as I want to see and play them. About the time I settle down, another beautiful example of Ovation craftsmanship just appears and it is GAS, GAS, GAS. I agree, this instrument should be on the stage...however, if no one steps up, the Callimachus Adoption Agency may step in. (Greek Callimachus changed to Calman at Ellis Island.)

Joined: June 2003 Posts: 8 Location: Nashville | My apologies for not setting a sales price on this Adamas 12 string. You people know a lot more about the current value of these great guitars and I am still in the initial step of getting educated on that. Several members have asked the price and I am still trying to figure that one out. Maybe my post should have been a research/appraisal question rather than a sales announcement. I am having to do this in steps. Thanks for all the posts--I will figure this out !

What an incredible, lovable, GAS inciting bunch of SOB's the OFC is. And you are right there on the top of the heap. I just love this place!!!

These were bleen, and one silver(mine) and a black I think. Nyabne other colors too. Then there were the ones for preston and I don't know how many they've made since 98.
