I may have to put it up for sale. Anyone interested in a:

Deluxe Balladeer
Model #1112-4 (081226)

It's in excellent condition, have played it a lot, but I need the cash. Not sure what it's worth - anyone have an idea???

Welcome Davey!

Let me start with "Don't do it Dave"!

If you search Ebay you will find the early Custom Balladeers going for an under-appreciated $200-$300 at best. You will regret it later.

I recently regained my CB after letting it go and I have found it to be a valuable part of the Ovation family with it's own individual voice and uniqueness.

Mine is Serial #016172, Made in 73'-74. It is the model that Jim Croce played and survived the plane crash that he didn't. They are light and bright when played.

Enjoy the Board!

Now there you go blowin a perfectly good story to get a guy to keep him from selling his O. What's the matter with you Paul?

I probably am short on facts here. What I'm going off of are the pictures of Jim Croce in the "History of Ovation Book". Tell me that is a Custom Balladeer??

A quality spruce, modified X bracing, and no binding on the neck. It was a very nice step up from a Balladeer. Croce played a Legend. His guitar player played a Balladeer. I've got a dvd of them playing a number of tunes. In some they play Martins and in some Ovations. The Ovations sounded much better for what they were doing. And they mic'd them.
