Hi,
I'm new at this forum. I've always liked to buy an Ovation but never decided wich one...
Now I found it!! And I deeply into what someone calls "Gear Acquisition Syndrome".
I want to have the one Bob use for playing Redemption Song. That is of course an Adamas I. I'm definitely looking for that guitar.
But first I'd love to know more about that. I guess the model is 1687. I'm NOT shure about the exact color code (looks beige and blue). I'm not shure about the year (of course shoud be between '76 and '79)... Is there anybody in this community who wants to sell this model of Adamas? Is there anybody who can tell more about Bob's Adamas? Thanks a lot.

Edoardo

Hi. I have a dvd of the Tribute to Bob Marley TNT cable network special. There is a lot of concert, rehersal, and casual footage of Bob playing different guitars. There is one piece of fotaage where Bob is sitting in front of a drum set. He is doing a solo performance of Redemption Song. The guitar he is playing is an early Adamas I . This appears to be shot in some sort of rehersal studio, so there is no fancy, colorful stage lighting. The guitar is definitely Blue Burst 1687-8!!!! this is my favorite color for the Adamas and I just watched that dvd last week so that much I do know for sure. Now, what I don not know for certain, is if that was the only one Bob owned. I have several pictures of Bob playing an Adamas I onstage during concerts. Of course Bob , and the guitar are lit up under colored stage lighting. The Adamas I in those pictures appears to be a solid color of Beige to an almost White color. Common sense tells me that this is the how the Blue appears under the lights. I have other footage of Nancy Wilson of Heart with her Blue Adamas I that also apppears Beige or White under stage lighting. However, I also know that she had both a Beige-Burst 1687-7 and Blue-Burst 1687-8 Adamas I. I guess when all is said and done, you can't go wrong with a Blue !!!!!

Check with PlayAdamas. I know that he had several Adamas for sale, both 6 and 12 string. Probably will not be as early as Bob's, but any year Adamas I is a good thing!!! I just made an awesome trade with PLayAdamas, so I can tell you that he is a very reputable guy. Also, keep checking Ebay. There have been to many Adamas I for sale in the past 2-3 months, that it is too many to count. Check with Al at Lost Art/VIntage . There is a direct linc to his store and inventory on the left side of this forum home page. Good Luck !!
