Location: Scotland | Hey I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone would know how much I could get out of a ovation viper solidbody I think the number is 1271 I'm not sure what year it is. I'm not offering this guitar. Just want to know how much I should ask when I do.
Thanks

Six months ago I rescued a beat up Viper for $152 plus shipping. This week a prime example went for $600.
It's a relatively fickle and unappreciative market out there.
Welcome, (and I'll give you $50 for it since its almost Christmas)!
Look around and enjoy. |

Location: Scotland | Hey woody thanks for the offer but as I said I'm not offering it at the moment. but I was wondering why it has a red pickguard insted of a black one like all the other 1979 vipers have. would you happen to know?
Thanks

Woody....that Viper I that I paid $600 for was NOT MINT as the ad suggested. It was very good to excellent but not mint. Had little dings and a few pretty big dents all over the body.
I contacted the seller (who did not really know guitars)and we had several very good email discussions which ultimately resulted in a fairly hefty rebate.
Bottom line, the rebate check cleared, I posted positive feedback and got a good Mohagany flamed Viper in excellent condition. |

Looking at the pics, I was a little suspicious that maybe it had been refinished to make it a "mint" guitar. |

Location: Midland, MI | I'm betting the red pickguard is aftermarket. My own Project Viper ($240 in lightly played condition, with OHSC, including shipping) has a single ply black pickguard that's definitely an aftermarket jobby. It's my feeling that the placement of the output jack resulted in broken PGs, which resulted in replacement PGs. :) |
