Location: Palmdale, CA | I've got an Early Deluxe Balladeer (S/N 2091) that I'm sure I purchased prior to 1971. However, the spreadsheet that I downloaded from Kaman Music shows that the Custom Balladeers were not made prior to 1973. Does anyone know the explanation for this? Does anyone have an idea as to the value of my guitar, in excellent condition?
Thanks for whatever help you can give.

Location: SoCal | Deluxe Balladeers and Custom Balladeers are two different animals. Not the same guitar. The DB's were built from 1967 to 1969. They were shiny bowls and were the top of the Ovation line. This is probably what you have (from the serial number, I'd also guess that your's has a 3 piece top, built in 1968). The Custom Balladeers were introduced in 1972 and were just a fancier version of the regular Balladeer. For a lot of years, and for a lot of people, they are a major workhorse guitar. A lot of value for the bucks.
As to the value of your guitar, it depends on the buyer and how you sell it. Watch ebay and you'll get a feel for the price range. They do show up there occassionally. |
