Joined: March 2005 Posts: 6 Location: Akron Ohio | I am a retired firefighter who used to play guitar, the situation which caused my retirement, I have recently discovered, prevents me from playing my guitars anymore. So I have an Ovation Thunderhead I bought new in mid 1971, it has a serial number of A733 it is brown wood finish has always been waxed and has all the gold trim, the metal work needs shined up and the strings are a little rusty, the case is pristine. The only thing missing is one brass screw from the pickguard corner of the bottom pickup. It has the vibrato handle and the DeArmond pickups from the descriptions I can find. I never played it while wearing anything that might scratch it, my kids were incensed that they were never allowed to touch it. As they are now grown they realize why. I can provide pictures if you contact me through this board.

One secret of selling on this site is to determine what price you are looking for and provide pictures. The last three guitars that I got from other OFC members, I bought them at the price requested. Won't always happen that way but at least someone won't waste your time with an unacceptable offer. Personally, I would like to see the pictures ASCalman@aol.com

At one time was 7 of them. I just imagine the possibilities if I could in fact "name my price". Certainly a one-owner mint condition one should fetch good money but if it were mine would be very hard to part with. Fortunately of the 3 that I sold, all went to OFC members so I can still feel a small attachment to them. Dave

To whit, he believes every guitarist needs: a) Strat b) Tele c) Acoustic d) Hollowbody jazz guitar, thin and thick if poss. I can cover the first three, but not d). And then I log in here and see a T-head for sale. Coincidence? Hrmm, you be the judge. Now, if it had palm tree cutouts...

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 6 Location: Akron Ohio | HELLO ALL, I'm used to ebay and the bids have been slow. Actually I have been trying to find out what the guitar is really worth. I had expected it to at least keep up with inflation, which would put the price in the neighborhood of $800.00. But as the pictures show, and I can't explain, the metal piece on the bottom is entirely devoid of coating. The rest I think is in excellent shape for a 30+ year old, but check out the pictures. So I'm going to ask $675.00 to start and see how many people call me crazy. And I'd like to thank Tony Calman for all the info, and leads for infomation, and putting the picture link on the site. The Harmony will start at $400.00 all the same caveats. Check out the pictures and thanks for your interest and all the help. ray...

I was trying to get it to someone who might not want that done to it.... just kidding of course! About you doing that, right? I mean... you wouldn't really, would you???? ray.... LOL

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 6 Location: Akron Ohio | Wow just checked the reference area and found that the guitar I have is made in 68 between July and Nov. Wonder why it was still in the store in 71, new on the wall? I thought it was gorgeous, and bought it with a check I had to run to the bank to make good. Weird I think of all this silliness now, guess it's part of deciding to make the break. Hope someone want's to give it a good home. And Ebay is definately not a desirable option for me. I'll just let it get older, and feel bad about not playing it anymore. So there's really no hurry, ray...

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 6 Location: Akron Ohio | Just to see how this board works, and see if this gets me back to the top. Did I mention it is all original and in the original case. And in answer to some questions. I found out the scratch is not deep and will probably rub out, with no damage. And the metal on the bottom will be easy to replate when the strings are off for replacement. Just my opinion of course, and again, just seeing if this bumps to the top. ray...

In which case you would be trying to get me to think that you're trying to manipulate me into a purchase, yet you're ultimate goal is the opposite...keeping me from purchasing! {refills the wine glass and contemplates the falling snow} Or, it could be double-double-reverse psychology... {gets a headache} Or, it could be...hey, look, something shiny! {goes back to practicing Blackbird on the Elite} Boy, this thing sounds great...
