Location: San Anselmo, | I am restoring a Typhoon III bass, model # 1216-5 and am in need of a pick up. Either that or a place where I can get the old one rewound. I'm just not up for doing that myself. Bridge position, if it matters and I have a choice. |

Location: Upper Left USA | Here is a picture lifted from Standing O (thanks Dave!).
I would contact Customer Service and ask:
1. - Ya got any?
2. - do you have a spec sheet?
I would see if there where any "replacements" available and then look into someone who does custom windings. |

Location: San Anselmo, | Alas, I already checked with them and the reply we "Go Fish" which is kind of what I expected. If one fails to turn up, I guess I'll search for a re-winder. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Those are a couple of nice looking basses, even if I do say so myself!
If I can offer some advice, the problem is that the electronics in these old storm series are pretty crappy to begin with. If it was me, I would look at replacing both pickups, new pots, the works ... Dave |

Location: Upper Left USA | I have been reading up on my "lectronical" stuff in the last week so I am curious - what do bass players look for in a pup to get that smoove sound?
Is it still true that 250mv pots for single pups and 500mv pots for humbuckers or is all that guitar stuff out the window?
If you check the Hamer site and find out what one of their bass' are using you can get O to "update" for you! It is not hard to do yourself with a little guidance. |
