By the way, does Viper III have the same neck profile as a regular Viper?

When put through a distortion pedal my Viper is kind of microphonic, I mean there is some incessant hum. It's a lot less pronounced when the guitar is hooked right through the amp without any effects.

What can this be attributed to?

I'm having a guitar tech look into. So here is the question: in order to examine the electronics one has to remove the pickguard, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but to do that you have to unscrew the screws on the contour of the pickguard, these ones (in red circles). IS it correct?

Yes..

Disclaimer... do at your own peril..

1. remove ALL of those screws.

2. Loosen strings enough to remove bridge from studs. (Put a Capo above the 12th fret to make life easy on you when you remove bridge). Remove the bridge and disconnect ground.

3. Once bridge is clear, (you may want to wrap it in bubble wrap to keep from scratching things it touches) using pickup height adjustment screws, raise the level of the neck pickup, nearly all the way.

4. CAREFULLY remove pickguard. The tip by the neck joint is very prone to breaking. The reason for raising the pickup height is so you can carefully back up the pick guard enough to lift out without stressing anything.

Again do at your own peril... but it's pretty easy. If it doesn't nearly fall off, you missed a screw.
