ive got one, and somebody told me, it was built in the early ninetees... [shadow]
serial number: 431741
ovation 3712 pinnacle series e/a
one thing is clear, this one is very special!
is there any any collector, that pays as much as price for another (playable) ovation??
who can tell me exactly, how old it is??

does it say on the guitar, "made in germany"?
here is what the Ovation site says:

The Ovation Pinnacle is made in our factory in Japan to the exact specifications and with the same components as the U.S. models. Available in a range of exciting color options, the Pinnacle features a solid spruce top, Schaller machines, a FET-3 preamp and the same piezo pick-up system which has been favored by performing artists around the world.

Location: Fayetteville, NC | From what I remember it's been brought up before that the "Made In Japan" Pinnacles were really good guitars and in teh opinion of some better that the korean made counterpart. |

Location: Tennessee | I believe the Schallers on it were made in Germany. The rest of the guitar was made in Japan, although the bowl may have come from Ohio.
From the serial number, it was likely made in 1991.

Location: Germany | Welcome Karsten! Ovation never produced guitars in Germany. But that's right, the Schaller tuning machines are "Made in Germany". The Schaller factory is located in Postbauer, Bavaria - I live next to it (a few hundred feet).

Location: Chicagoland U.S.A. | I have a 3712 signed by Al D. himself from 1992 I believe, made in Japan, never heard any reference to them being made in Deutschland. Kinda like a Balladeer, all mahogany neck, very good FET-3 onboard, and a solid spruce top in white I guess you could say. Low action, low frets and plays nicely. I way overpaid for mine, but Al's signature is on it, Al even played it at a music store appearance in California, which I have big photos of...so...that's all I know. And yes, the Japanese models have a better reputation than the Korean made. This is one solidly built guitar that has a 6 or 7 hundred dollar feel to it. |

Location: UK | I also have a 1991 Ovation Pinnacle 3712 serial num 431980, the sticker in the bowl states 'Made in Germany' so I can also confirm that there were Ovation Guitars built in Germany. This model has a deep bowl and a great sound when played acoustic... |
