- and I know quite a few - someone requests one you don't. Last night it was "Lady". Not John Denver's, not the Little River Band's, but Kenny Rogers'. Damn! No clue on the lyrics other than the first word. I told him my hair wasn't gray enough yet, but I was working on it.

I asked him if he were a tourist or a local (if it's a local, I'll learn it) He was a local. Damn again!

I'll have it next week (sigh)

Yeah, there's always someone like that. Ever notice how it's usually a tune you don't like too?

Well I've been seriously thinking of putting a band together again and wondering what direction I want to go musically... this thread reminded of something.

If you only play your own material, you don't have to learn songs you don't like... usually. :)

Learn it, but perform it in an Elmer Fudd voice:

Wady...I'm your knight in shining armor and I wuv you...

Boop-Boop, Out Go The Lights!

I sincerely hate that song, but every bar-band seems to know it and play it.

OH! Damon... I am that Guy!

A friend of mine went to see Celine Dion in Vegas. Some guy shouted out, "Freebird." Security escorted him out. I guess she doesn't do it.

That's a great idea scooter. I'm going to work on my Fudd voice now.

Or maybe I'll channel up Bullwinkle the Moose

Davis does a great version of it, all major 7ths with a little South American feel to it. He calls it his Ritz version.
It still sucks but is good to mess with people.

Friend of mine used to change songs by substituting the major chords for the minor chord (not the related minor, the same chord, only minor), using a heavy upbeat, a reggae style and add "Bob Marley says" every few lines.

Of course, Miles, when you only play your own songs...gigs are a little thinner on the ground.

I like my adaptation of the NRBQ challenge.

Write your request on a $20 bill. If I can play it, I keep it. If I can't you get your money back.

Feel Lucky? Well, do ya punk?

I can't even get a mental image of that. It's just too bizarre to comprehend.

Click the link Damon, then sit back and enjoy. The hip thrusting is particularly interesting.

There is nothing better when you're sittin' in a pub in Timmins Ontario sippin' a few, than listening to Stompin' Tom sing about our country.

Fortunately, I've never been to Timmins.
