Location: Scotland | It's a Roland GK2A hexaphonic pickup driving a guitar synth. For a whlie Ovation actually made "Roland Ready" guitars with the whole thing onboard. For at least 50% of Dimeola's set we were hearing a synth patch rather than the Ovation pickup. Some of the sounds worked really well, especially the distorted guitar tones. It was just visually wierd seeing a Custom Legend but hearing a marimba or whatever. |

Location: Long Island | It was a great show, except for the two useless players that opened up. Every time either of them slapped thier guitar for effect, I wanted to slap them. Al should have been great, but the sound man couldn't get it together to the point that Al got pissed off on stage. Still it was worth the trip. In my opinion he used the synth a little too much and he should have played more. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Smashsvp, Welcome! Glad to see you got here. Like all these industry events is winds up being more to see everyone who's there again rather than the music, but I mean no disrespect to the music.
I liked seeing Al play again and enjoyed his show.
Loraine and I got to see the Yamaha show the next night. It was Wonderful. A Gavin somebody opened up and he was OK, Then KD Lang looking like Tony Bennet, Al Jareau, Natalie Cole and Sarah McLaughlin. A great show, an 11 on a scale of 10. Then the headliner, Brian Wilson. This f**king guy needs to be in a rest home. He was a -20 on a scale of 1-100. He sits front and center behind a keyboard he doesn't play with a teleprompter so he'll know when to sing help me rhonda. It was toss your dinner and lunch bad. Even with the 10 or so piece backup band (that was really good) he still sucked a mile of donkey dick. We left after 2.5 songs and 4 full air sickness bags full. |

I think you have been to many namm shows. EVEEYONE I have even been to had bad sound. that is not an excuse but a fact.
I enjoyed seeing Al play even with crappy sound. |

Yes, some problems that should have been avoided...but a good evening.
Kaki opened for Al. Other than the fact that the stage was too low for most attendees to see and the sound man was AWOL...she did a good job. If I moved around to the side, could barely see her head, not the guitar.
Same problem with Al...tables up front probably were fine but the rest of us had to work our way around the side by the scaffolding to see. At one point, I had to draw back the curtain just to give Al a clean shot with his camera. Without risers on the stage, most of the attendees gave up trying to see any of the performances.
Anyone else see where they cut the PA before Rick could say his final words and thank Al? |

Rick was getting ready to recognize Al and crew and somebody pulled the plug. Don't know who....
There were quite a few things that could have been better but I'll not get into that. It looks like throwing stones and that's not my intention, this time. Look at the half full side, good evening with good people and good entertainment. |
