RESERVE HAS BEEN MET with my bid of $835. Several of us bought the 2005 last year at a higher price. Nice opportunity to get Englemann spruce, new contour bowl, cutaway, OP-Pro w/XLR.
I posted concerning the efforts of Sean Barry (the seller) to provide music instruments to victims of Katrina. I will buy it if my bid of $835 wins. I know that it is worth a lot more. Whether you string with lights or mediums, it is a "boomer".
Take a look at it, nice opportunity to get a great guitar:

What is the Martin fans mascot?

Location: boulder | Funny, I have been playing my 2005 collectors alot lately. I keep coming back to what a solid guitar it is. nice ring, nice solid neck, time flies while playing.
As a side note, I think the 2005 es collectors are one of the best values in ovation land these days. I own two. One I paid full price of $1300, and the other serial # 011 I bought for $850 new. Lately I have seen them sell for $700-$800 in mint shape used on ebay. I feel sort of dumb for paying so much compared to now, but I love the guitar I own.
Maybe a collectors edition should be limited to less then 500 pieces. (300 seems right to me) somewhere where the factory can make a profit, but the buyer doesn't lose so much in depreciation. (hint, koa-2006, hint, pay full price-no way, hint to factory)
sorry, back from my tangent...
$850 for a new 2005 collectors is a great deal, contour bowls rock......peace mike |
