This is my first time seeing an Adamas going over 10k for its selling price. It must be very special.

21 hours more to go, and it seems like StandingO's outbidding everyone (so far)

From the closeup, the strings look a little old. Hope he takes that into consideration.

I've got a few extra sets of the 99 cent Adamas strings that I'll take him. The irony of putting 99 cent strings on a $10,000 guitar overwhelms me.

I'll sell you some strings for $69.95 a set, if it will make you feel any better.

Just trying to help.

Anyway, I hope Dave gets it if he isn't having second thoughts about the amount of the ante. That's a MAJOR purchase, but it looks like one of the better specimens.

Dave is either

1. Still mad that he sold me his Adamas II or

2. Upset that he couldn't go to the slothead reunion, or

3. (My guess) He couldn't find a carbon-fiber topped UKE in pastel-blue

Dave's commitment to own this guitar is evidence of his deep love for them. It's more than a pound of flesh, but kudos!

Dave,
Are you trying to get this guitar so that you have a reason to use your string tubes? Good Luck

String tubes are not necessary on Adamas 1's. Look at this photo. That's why Adamas 1 always sounds better than Adamas 2. You guys think I'm kidding about the string tubes - I'M NOT.

Adamas 1 - No string tubes required

Dave, perhaps you could post some photos demonstrating the correct StringTube® technique.

Yes, photos please. I would love to see this done properly. Perhaps an instructional DVD showing string tubes, painting your access panel and any other cool tricks you have up your sleeve.

And good luck with the slothead Dave!

Well, I guess fugot outbidded everyone else in the end ... for a guitar costing that much, hopefully it's well worth every penny.

I'm not sure that, as a guitar, any one is worth that much. As a collectible, I would have to believe it probably is. But, then again, that's only one opinion (and, admittedly, one from a guy who probably will never be reaching quite that high). I certainly congratulate Fugot though. If I had the resources, I would...
