You do the math. I was bidding this one and have not gotten a response back yet from this guy. here's the current auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7399763952

And in a minute I'll copy the completed auction.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Ovation-1769-custom-legend-electric-acoustic-gu...

What do you make of this. I think I am retracting my bids.

The winner of the first auction neither gave nor received feedback on the auction. If I was the Seller and you came in with an astronomical bid and then couldn’t produce – I’d post negative feedback on you – nothing personal!

The Seller and the two low or no feedback bidders need to be turned in to ebay and they can evaluate who is kidding who.

This guitar was never intended to go in an honest auction so it would seem.

Here's what I asked the Seller:
"What relationship do you have with reddoggdgp and 3432christina?
I saw no feedback given or taken on auction 7395625305! If you want me to bid on this auction I need to know that you are running a fair auction!"

I hate it when people do this sort of crap with nice guitars!

I think he had a friend bid or had a second user name he could use to make it look as though his auction was not recieving any bids. Ended with a high sale price.... It backfired on him because he did not wait long to run it again... he is not experienced at ripping people off. he will learn though....
He is also stating in his auction that he is moving. This is not good... hard to catch up with someone when they do this and they can easily get new ebay user name when they relocate. New address and new credit card numbers and all.
You will see this one come up again in a while I'll bet. differnt seller name and no or very low feedback.
I got no response at all to my question I told him after he had emailed me about buying this illegally and ending the auction, an idea to which he was open by the way,.... he never responded when I asked him abou this older auction. I have contactedd the other bidders as well to let them know. but I think Ebay needs to look into this guy.

 Fraud!? on Ebay!?... No!?

*if* they really want to complete the scam, they have a friend set up a fake account from another ISP (ebay heavily monitors activity form the same IP addresses). They will then leave negetive feedback or the other person will un-register the fake account. Ebay refunds the listing fees and the seller tries to get a 2nd chance offer going "off ebay" to avoid closing fees. Sometimes they actually relist the item, but end it early to avoid closing costs. My wife uses this site to investigate potential scammers who will drive up a price, and hope for a lower 2nd chance offer. seems like allot of work to go through to save a buck, but when her actions go off like this you check out potential buyers too...

The response:
"Hello, thanks for your inquiry. I am new to selling on ebay, however I promise you I am running a fair auction. I had this same guitar just previously listed on ebay, although I placed a reserve of about $1,000 on it, I originally bought it for about 2,000. When no one was really bidding on it I was thinking it was because they were scared they didn't know what the reserve was. So I used two of my friends accounts to bring it up to the reserve so whomever bid would know that they would win. This was not done to compete or bid against someone winning the action to drive up price. Although no one bid on it after the reserve was met, so it didn't sell. Which is why I relisted the item and put NO reserve, so whom ever bids can feel safe that they might have the winning bid. If you look at the bidding history, you will see that no one I know has, or will bid against the winning bid, that is immorral and I can promise you I am a straight up guy. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thanks again."

Run Forrest!

So... let me get this straight. He admits to using shill bidders to drive the price up past the reserve, but that's not "done to compete or bid against someone winning the action to drive up price."

Send me the guitar, I'll send you the money. Honest.

The seller's story might be legit. He's only sold some tennis racquets and sneakers before-nothing over $100. It's possible that he just didn't realize that it's easy to amend the listing and tell potential buyers what the reserve is. The reserve was way too high anyway.

An OFC'er has a bid on it now.

Nice guitar!

I don't have a problem believing his story is legit. His methods certainly aren't.

I thought the same thing. His reply seemed to indicate that he thought that was probably the way it's done. More naivete than intentional fraud but wrong nevertheless.

He's most likely not a fake and it is an awful lot of work to go through to make an extra $100 or so. I think he is just inexperienced and he did not think others would find out about the other auction. The rub is he is moving and this makes all the other sillyness more scarry. guitar.

This guy's a fraud!
Go to mtnbikerfred's link ....scroll down to the Bidders box and type in 7395625305 hit enter and click on all the auctions that 3432christina has "helped" this guy with.
She always seems to "kick up" the price to try and get the item to reach the reserve. Notice also the ending dates on the tennis rackets....how many different auctions does this guy list the same item?????

Ok, you pulled me over the wall. You do it a couple of times and you're "inexperienced". Too much and you're a fraud. This guy's gone over the line.

S'cuse me? He also said he was "new to selling on ebay" yet he's been at it since 2/04. He needs to be reported. Too bad about the guitar, but now I seriously doubt he even owns one.

YOU GOT HIM!

Report him to eBay, immediately. They'll suspend him for a month or so, or possibly even kill his current ID permanently (which just means he'll be back witha new one.)

But at least eBay is FORCED to do something when someone admits it.

Les
