Here's a 97 Collectors on ebay.

97 Collectors

The description would indicate a wide neck model. If it is the price would be about right.

It is not an original 97 Collector hardshell case.

Somebody grab it.

A wide neck should be in pretty good demand. Too bad about the case. Dave

Wasn't AFG looking for a wide neck?

That is an excellent price without the case for a wide neck version.

john at ovation said they can get the OEM cases from SKB for about 250 dollars. I asked him about this when a parlor model was on the bay last year.

If I didn't already have a narrow neck I might be tempted to hit the BIN Button.

so does the 97 collectors have that smaller kind-of-tubby parlor sound?
i've got an 87 collectors...anyone care to give their take on how this one may sound compared to the 87?

it's looks really cool and it's a better price than the one i saw listed for $3500 on ebay.

thanks in advance.

Totally different from the '87. The '87 sounds a lot like the 1537...big. bold, bassy.

The '97 sounds like a parlor....petite, tight, even throughout.

Kinda hard to describe without actually hearing them side by side.

I have both the 87 and the 97. Two different guitars. The 97 is a nice small guitar with a big sound for its size. The 87 is my main guitar now. I rarely play the 97; I play the 87 about every day. If your looking for something that will compare with your 87 you will be disappointed. It would have been better to have bought the 97 first.

Thanks.

the 87 is my main guitar also. I love it. Just looking for something different to record. I think I'll pass on the 97.

'05 collectors is a great sounding guitar that has a full but different sound than the '87. Used prices on them are pretty good.

I may be selling mine in a few weeks if you are interested.

Another OUTSTANDING guitar is the 30th anniversary custom legend that came out in '04.

Yeah, that guy is looking for more than they cost new. A good used '05 has been selling in the $850-1000 range.
