Location: Earth·SolarSystem·LocalInterstellarCloud·Local Bub | been on the road a lot the last coulpa months and not much time to play but, today I had some time and tried to give all the guitars hanging on the walls a little playtime...
and AGAIN... I'm just blown away by the tone and volume of my uglyduckling Deluxe Balladeer... This guitar's got more mojo than any I've played since maybe Bill's CoalMiner National.
I'm just amazed by it.
Oh, how I wish the neck was wider. |

Not to say the shiny bowls aren't special in general. |

Location: SoCal | Shiny bowls have a big sound to them. I just pulled my GCDB off the wall and sat down in the best spot in the house for sound -- top of the stairs. What a great guitar.... |

Location: Jet City | I wish my DB was a shiny bowl, but it's a year too new. It still kicks MAJOR ass though. I just restrung it with Dean Markley Custom Light Alchemys and for kicks and giggles pulled the shims out from under the bridge. To my surprise, all it did was lowered the action. Not a buzz anywhere 'cept one fretted note up around the 17th fret No biggie, not like I'll play up there on this guitar anyway. Sure made doing runs up and down the neck easier.
One day I'll git me one of them there shiny things, until then, I'll just play with this ol' gal. |

Location: SoCal | Yes and no. The Deluxe Balladeer really morphed into the Legend, first getting the bound neck, then the fretboard of the GC. The GCDB really just disappeared, coming back as the GC Artist, a shallow (for the time, actually closer to a mid depth) bowl with new and improved (yeah, right) VT bracing. |

Yes Paul, they do indeed...My '68 Balladeer 12 is such a fantastic sounding guitar: it is a bit rough around the edges but that in no way interfears with the sound...and the mojo from the SB is just TDF! Best $300 I ever spent! Couldn't be pried out of my hands for three times that...It's a keeper! |
