New Dealer here, if I violate any forum rules please forgive me, I took a quick look but didn't locate them.

Here's a couple of items if anyone's interested:

2006 FKOA, beautiful is an understatement. MAP on the guitar is $1,999.00 Give me a call.

Besides a few Celebrity's and a really nice Pinnacle I have:

06 1771LX Trans. Red. This is absolutely my favorite Ovation and if it goes I'm getting another one.

1778T Orange Flame, this is the easiest playing guitar in the store.

6756 LX Beautiful Oragngish? translucent top. Map on this is 1299.00 Give me a call on this one.

Check out my site at www.southernstringsmusic.com

sstrings, you should be aware that one of the co-founders and moderator of this site is Al Pepiak of Lost Art/Vintage Instruments, who is also an Ovation dealer.

IMHO, this is not the place for other Ovation dealers to advertise product or pricing. You might try talking to Al first, as a courtesy.

Al doesn't list prices over the board as well. He uses a Newsletter or elicits emails.

I suggest a "Dealers" section of the board or a policy of no dealers posting. I know that Al dislikes restricting free speech and I think this eventually needs to be a Moderator issue.

Talking to Al and Miles is probably the best approach. To date, there isn't a rule on this but a do feel that if the board moved from private party to Dealer advertising it would be a loss. It would also look like all the other boards I can't stand.

Al doesn't actively sell on the board. We've now got 2 dealers posting (nicely, but still posting). I really don't think this board is the place for it.

I believe with the three wise men above.
Once you start allowing Dealer advertising, where do you draw the line.

I do not think that people come to the OFC to find an Ovation Dealer to purchase a new guitar.
The Ovation and Adamas Websites have Dealer Search functions.

Al has respectfully run his business and the OFC Site, keeping the two apart as much as possible.
He has not capitalized on this captive audience.

If another Ovation Dealer out there feels that Al has an unfair advantage here...
well... how can I say this nicely... ah...

You can just roll me over...

and kiss my...

If Lost Art/Vintage Instruments receives a small business gain from the OFC...
IMHO, Al deserves it, because that small gain could never be enough to compensate Al for his contributions to the Ovation Community.

I have talked to Al, and have taken my cues about posting anything for sale from him. I get a special deal from Ovation, and I have posted it, same as Al has and as he says he has no problem with. Since postings of that type seem to be an issue not with Al but with members, I have removed all of them.

And just for the record, I was playing Ovations long before I started selling them...like for 30 years now...and have tried to participate in this board with tips and questions, long before I decided to sell guitars to help support my ministry.

I think there is some center ground here. This is not a "closed" site. Each of us have the opportunity to post for sale or trade. Granted, most of us are not dealers but some are very active eBay sellers.

Heck, last year I sold or traded fifteen guitars in the twelve-month period. For awhile, I had a section in the gallery labeled "For Sale/Trade".

I can't see any problem with listing that you are a dealer in your signature. In addition, you should be able to add "New 2006 Collectors FRG for sale" in your signature; as well as a link to your website. I would discourage listing the price. As the non-dealers do, I don't see a problem if you supplied the link to an eBay auction.

This is a good discussion as we have a number of dealers or active non-dealer eBay sellers.

Personally, I have supported Al as my dealer.

Once again I looked around for forum rules before and didn't locate any. I did however want to be up front that I am a dealer. When I'm dealing with someone I always want to know that ahead of time and other boards require that disclosure (which I think is a good thing). If Al -the Moderator- would like me to not post again that's ok as he is the one paying for and putting the work into the site I would assume. Again as I am new around here no harm intended.

If Tony was selling cars, they'd make him get a dealer's license and start collecting sales tax.

And your count does not include the "adoption inventory" sitting up in my music room...
oh, that does not count because I wrote the checks.
Your and T28's influence has been...

a very rewarding taste of ice cream flavors.

I have to behave myself now...at least until I get a larger house. ;)

I'm still trying to locate Miles' moving van so I can hijack it on the way through.

If I was an Ovation Dealer, I'd wish that I was one of the Founders and/or Sponsors of the OFC.

Al's and Miles's gig is theirs. I respect and support it because they have kept the OFC as free from Commercial Advertising as possible.

Last year, the membership spoke with their checkbooks. I owe T28 $200. If it is ok with T28, I'd like to send the OFC Support Fund a hundred of that debt just to show how much T28 supports a Commercial Free OFC

This is the for sale section.

As long as it goes in this section of the board, I have no problems with it.

It is really no different than one of us selling a guitar.

At least this guy is actually selling something. I get tired of people saying "look what I found on the bay". So let this man sell his stuff. This is a for sale section isn't it?

Absolutely! And forthright honesty should be rewarded wherever possible.

Besides, just hanging about I'm sure the new guy will pick up the tone of the site. Loose, irreverent, open.......
And lovin' Ovations.

(unless Al says otherwise. But I'm sure we won't hear from him until after his recouperation after the tour)
