Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | Hey guys...I'm the "esteemed" colleague. Kind of reminds me when my neighbor said they were looking for someone "mature" to watch their kid for a couple hours. My wife and I looked at each other and laughed and said we better go get our daughter.
I've always wanted to tell someone "the check's in the mail!" and now I've done it. I'm looking forward to receiving this beauty. Certainly looks like Jeff's done a great job of taking care of it. Also picked up a nice tip on Adamas strings from Moody.
I told my wife a couple years ago I'd love to buy a NEW guitar someday. And each time I buy a guitar, they seem to get older and older.
Looks like I'll have to sell my Adamas 1681-5 to make room for the 1537. And like so many others here, I'm looking forward to checking out Jeff's new custom Adamas. Great stuff. Love those O's!

Jim [/QB] Goodness Jim, a 1681 would have been one I was interested in trading my 1537 for a month ago....you are going to love the 1537.
On the topic of strings, I just replaced my Elixirs with some 1818's and I guess I am not quite as happy with them. I find them to be kind of "ringy" whereas the Elixirs where more mellow sounding. Not a bad sound, just different than what I have had on it for the last 10 years. I am going to run with them for a while and see if they mellow out a bit with time. |

I've been using Elixir Custom Light Nanowebs for quite a while now, but I recently put a set of Dean Markley Alchemy Gold strings on my 1537 and they sound exceptionally well. Good bass tones, very bright, lots of nice overtones but without the "ringy" sound that I've found with every set of phosphur bronze strings. Like Moody, I've tried many different strings on the 1537, and to my ear these are the best.
BTW, I've get strings from Sweetwater now because they don't charge for shipping.

Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | Flipsyde, I just ordered a set of the Dean Markley Alchemy Golds to try out. I've heard good things about these strings but have never personally tried them. Do you know if they also have them available for 12 strings.
Jeff: I feel a much higher degree of confidence buying from the OFC instead of Ebay. I'm sure I'll love the 1537. Let's just hope for good shipping now. |

Here's how I feel about my 1773 LX. I like it a lot and I play it at least a little bit every day. However, for me, I don't like it as much as my Adamas 1681. And because I just bought Jeff's 1537, I'm going to have a tough decision to make. I need to sell one guitar. That's because in a recent moment of weakness, I bid on an old Pacemaker (I've wanted one for a long time) and actually won it. It was one of those deals where the seller wasn't paying attention and had the auction ending at 3:00 AM. So I placed a low bid before going to bed and found out the next morning that I'd won. This happened right before buying Jeff's 1537. My wife knows about the 1537 but I haven't figured out how to tell her I bought 2 guitars at the same time! I really wasn't expecting to win the Pacemaker so it was sort of an accident! I'm sure my wife will buy that one! The fun part is that this is a good bad situation to be in. I'll have to choose between some very fine guitars and I'll get to keep all but one. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Jim, try "Oops." I did the 2 guitar deal in one day with the Classic and Custom Balladeer. Then I did the ebay oops on the Ultra GS and had to have an amp, so I bought it the same day. After a year she got over it, but then this Spring I bought the Country Artist off Craigslist and almost the same day got surprised when I had the high bid on the Folklore. I only got minor grief for those 2.
So the moral of the story is, if SWMBO is going to give you a bad time for buying a guitar, you may as well do 2 at once. You'll feel worse for selling one than you felt for buying 2. |

And don't ever say you have enough guitars. My daughter bought me a T shirt that says "you can never have too many guitars." I wear it all the time. |
