Location: North Carolina | I kinda did soemtihing like that. When I bought my 1869 back in '95 I sold my HD-28. Now I wish I hadn't, but I ain't paying what they want for a new one.
My guitars are not museum pieces, I use them on gigs. Taking a three grand+ fragile wooden box into some of these places? Nah . . . |

Location: CA | I once saw Steve Goodman play at a little place in Huntington Beach. He was playing this old battered Martin and was using what looked like a really long shoelace for a strap. About midway through a song (wish I could remember which one), the string breaks and the guitar falls on the floor. Steve just keeps singing and — get this — ad libs an entire new verse about droppin his Martin one more time and how he didn't know which one of them would be the first to drop permanently after a life on the road. It was great. After the song, he gave it a quick look, tied a knot in the string(!) and he was good to go for the rest of the set. |

Location: Hicksville, NY | Brandwise, I tend to lean towards Ovation and Martin. I have a CL 1719, and a HD-28 ... both different guitars, but complement each other quite well in my household. |
