Do you think the "slight waving just behind bridge" is something to worry about?

He made a reasonable counter-offer, but I admit that the "waving" has me concerned. He says it's never been a big deal. But I've already had to unload one of these because of increasing waviness in the top. Any input anyone?

"Not a big deal" is subjective. "Slight" is subjective. The seller is the one wanting to get rid of it?
How old is it? Get the serial number and see how old it is.

Get a couple pictures of the instrument from the side. If a seller does not want you to see it, you probably do not want it.

Read about wood tops aging, belly behind the bridge, and neck resets.

Thanks for the link.

I saw the auction before I saw this post and asked the seller some direct questions about the condition of the mando.

His response:

"There are no cracks in the wood or finish. No fret wear and the neck is straight. The electronics are perfect. Plays and stays in tune. There is slight bowing behind the bridge which is common for this instrument, does not affect sound or playing at all. Serial # is497171. Thanks!!"

I thought about requesting a photo, but I wonder if the bowing would be visible. Serial # indicates 1995.

I haven't decide if I want to make an offer yet.

I think I'm going to bow out of this one. There'll be others. ;)

Pretzel, I've sent you a private message. Good luck if you decide you want this one.

A little belly behind the bridge on an 11 year old wood top should not be a problem. That is why you want to see some good pictures of it from the side. Sure, you will be trusting the seller's appraisal of the action and playability. Maybe you want to call and talk to the seller.
